Kolkata, Feb 1 (IBNS) The Kolkata leg of the Audi quattro Cup, one of the most awaited on the corporate golf calendar, is all set to tee off at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club here on Saturday.

Nearly 100 golfers who form the "who is who" of Kolkata will be contesting for the honours in a one-day competition.

The Kolkata leg forms the third leg of the mutli-city event and is hosted by Audi Kolkata and presented by Audi Finance.

Played on a unique "Greensome Stableford" format, where a team consists of two golfers drawn randomly, the top team will qualify for the Audi India quattro Cup finals.

The winning team from the Audi India tournament will then qualify to participate in the world finals of Audi quattro Cup to be held at an exotic locale.

Apart from the winning team that will qualify for the National final, one team drawn randomly will be picked as the "wild card entry" from each of the legs. The team with highest score amongst 13 such teams will then take part in the National finals.

The star attraction at the Kolkata leg would be the presence of India's leading lady professional golfer Sharmila Nicollet, who, apart from making ripples on the Ladies Asian and European Tours, has also been rated as the most glamorous golfer on the European Tour and is the brand ambassador for the 7-star golf event.

She will be seen driving for all the teams on a particular hole.

The Audi quattro Cup tournament series, established in 1991, has become one of the most celebrated amateur golf tournaments in the world bringing together over 85000 golfers from 54 countries.

The Indian circuit of Audi quattro Cup will see more than 1600 golfers vying for honours.

"The tournament which enters its sixth season in India has emerged as not just a popular sporting event but also as an ideal opportunity to intensify business relationships and establish new contacts," said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
