Bangalore: An additional 500 million litres of water will be supplied to Bangalore daily from June following the completion of the second phase of the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme's fourth stage.
Minister for Urban Development and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), S Suresh Kumar, said in the Legislative Assembly that work on this phase would be completed by April 30 and after trial runs, the additional supply would begin a month from then.
The project, worth about Rs 3,400 crore, has been taken up with funding assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Central government, he said, responding to questions in the Assembly.
The daily water requirement in Bangalore is 1,150 million litres whereas the availability per day is 900 million litres, Kumar said.
