New Delhi, Apr 23 (IBNS) A programme was organised at Railway Board in Rail Bhawan on Tuesday to celebrate 122nd birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
It was organised by the Railway Board Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Railway Employees Association.
Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Bansal said that the thoughts of Ambedkar brought revolution in the country and he worked for the uplift of downtrodden people.
Bansal pointed out that Ambedkar himself felt the pains of discrimination during his life time and worked hard to get India rid of this evil practice.
Bansal said that a nation can progress only when it breaks the shackles of man made discriminations.
He said: "There is a need to change mind set and work for a true casteless society. We all have to carry forward the message of Dr. Ambedkar whether we are in Government or outside the Government."
Bansal said that Ambedkar emphasized on the significance of the education for all.
The Railway Minister said: "We should always fight injustice and together should work for the nation building."
Chowdhury said that all human beings are one and it is unfortunate that the society is divided into caste and sub-caste.
He said that downtrodden people are now getting empowered and have shown their mettle, strength and talent and have truly proved that "Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi".
In his speech, Railway Board chairman Vinay Mittal said that Ambedkar was the maker of the Indian Constitution and was a person with multi faceted talent.
Ambedkar talked of inclusive growth for all round development of the country, Mittal added.
Everybody present in the programme paid floral tribute to Ambedkar's photograph.
