The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday showcaused swing bowler Praveen Kumar and suspended him from taking part in the forthcoming inter-state Vijay Hazare Trophy matches.
The Uttar Pradesh cricketer was suspended due to a reported bust-up with an opposition player during a Corporate Trophy game in Bhilai.
"Praveen Kumar has been issued a Show cause notice by the Board. He has been suspended from participating in the forthcoming inter-state Vijay Hazare Trophy matches," said BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale in a statement.
BCCI´s Disciplinary Committee is still investigating the incident, and Praveen has been put on suspension.
The incident took place when Praveen, while playing for ONGC, abused Income Tax batsman Ajit Argal after bowling a short-pitched delivery.
Praveen got infuriated and showered abuses after the batsman inquired the umpires about the legality of the delivery. It prompted the umpires to bring the incident to the notice of Match Referee Dhananjay Singh.
The Match Referee reportedly in his report stated that Praveen is mentally unfit.
Praveen has been out of the Indian team since March 2012 due to a chest injury.
