Bengal principal faints after TMC gheraoes him

Birbhum, West Bengal, Jan 11 (IBNS): Principal of a college in West Bengal's Birbhum district fell unconscious on Wednesday after he was gheraoed for nearly two-and-a-half hours by students affiliated to ruling political parties.

The principal of of Rampurhat College was taken to a hospital after he fell unconscious during the demonstrations made against him by the students of the college, reports said on Wednesday.

The Trinamool Chhatra Parishad and the Chhatra Parishad, student´s wings of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Congress respectively, were accused to be responsible for the incident.

This was the third incident in the past one week where principal of a college was harassed by the students affiliated to TMC student wing, local media said.

Earlier, principal of Raiganj College in North Dinajpur district was allegedly beaten up by Trinamool Chhatra Parishad activists.

In a similar incident, principal of Nadia´s Majdia Sudhir Ranjan Lahiri College was manhandled by the supporters of Student Federation of India (SFI), student wing of Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M).
