Bengali music fest to mesmerise Mumbai

The 15th Banga Sanskriti Utsav, a Bengali music fest organised by the Presidency College Calcutta Alumni Association, Mumbai was announced on Wednesday in Kolkata.

Renowned singer Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta and sitar maestro Purbayan Chatterjee were present at the occasion.

´Banga Sanksriti Utsav´ consist of a wide range of artist from West Bengal including Sawagatalaxmi Dasgupta, Purbayan Chatterjee, Anjan Dutt, Rupankar, Jagannath Bose, Urmimala Bose and many more.

The festival will start with a Rabindranath Tagore song by Sawagatalaxmi Dasgupta.

Sawagatalaxmi said, "Last two years I have sang all type of songs, but this time I will perform only Rabindrasangeet, original tunes of Rabindranath along with the adaptations of Rabindrasangeet."

Purbayan said, "I am performing here for the first time and will do a solo performance that is purely classical."

The festival will also have 'sruti natok'by Jagannath Bose and Urmimala Bose, folk song by Abhijit Bose, 'majlishi adda' where author Sirshendu Mukhopadhyaya,Suchitra Bhattacharya and Diparkar De will be present.



There will be a Bengali drama "Pinki Buli' by Sayak theatrical group of Kolkata.

Banga Sanksriti Utsav is a musical fest for the Bengalis living in Mumbai and also for the non-Bengalis to experience the taste of Bengal's music and its heritage and culture.

The festival will be held at Rabindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi in Mumbai from Feb 10 to Feb 12.
