Mahoba: Uma Bharti on Saturday hit back at Jama Masjid Shahi Imam Maulana Ahmad Bukhari for his statement that the BJP considers Muslims as second class citizens, saying the party does not need a certificate from him.
Talking to reporters after filing her nomination for Charkhari seat, Bharti said Muslims were well aware of Bukhari's opportunism and his appeal to them to vote for the Samajwadi Party will make no difference to the community.
On being told that Jan Kranti Party founder Kalyan Singh, whom she considers as father, had said that he would campaign to ensure her defeat in Charkhari, she said it was her personal matter.
The BJP leader said if people of Bundelkhand give her a chance, she would work as a guard and not an MLA of the entire region.
Uma said while she was active in Madhya Pradesh politics, she fought for the problems of Bundelkhand and promised that if elected she would make attempts to alleviate poverty, starvation and poor condition of the region.
