London, July 31 (IBNS) It was curtains for Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna as they lost 3-6, 4-6 to Frenchman Richard Gasquet and Julien Benneteau in the second round of the 2012 London Games here Tuesday.

The seventh seeded Indian pair was unimpressive against the unseeded French duo.

The Indians had to fight with the All India Tennis Association (AITA) to play together in the Olympics.

They won their first round match with Max Mirnyi and Alexander Bury of Belarus 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (4-7) and 8-6 in a match that lasted two hours and 26 minutes.

But on Tuesday, it was a different script as the Indians found the going tough against the French duo.

Meanwhile, the other Indian pair of Leander Paes and Vishnu Vardhan will have to wait longer for their second round match. Their encounter against second seeded Frenchmen Michael Llodra and Jo Wilfried Tsonga was postponed.

In the mixed doubles, Paes and Saina have been drawn against Serbian team of Nenad Zimonjic and Ana Ivanovic in the first round of the mixed doubles starting Wednesday.
