Patna: The death toll in the devastating floods in Bihar rose to 190 Saturday even as waters are receding in all major rivers in the state, an official said

"Till date, floods have claimed 190 lives including 30 in Purnea, 26 in Bhojpur and 21 in Munger districts," said an official of the state disaster management department.

More than six million people have been affected in the floods in 20 districts and thousands of people have been left homeless, the official said.

He said the overall flood situation has improved in the state as the water levels of all major rivers were receding.

Officials said crops worth crores of rupees have been destroyed and road communication has snapped at several places.

The Met Office has warned of heavy rain and cloudburst-like situation in districts bordering Nepal over the next few days.
