New Delhi: Congress Saturday trashed the BJP and AAP election surveys that project them as winners in the Dec 4 Delhi polls, terming them "fake" and "malicious".

"All parties are conducting surveys and misleading people. These surveys are fake and malicious and not good for democracy," said Arvinder Singh Lovely, a minister in Delhi's ruling Congress government.

Lovely, usually aggressive and witty at press conferences, ridiculed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claims, questioning how both parties can form the government simultaneously.

The newly formed AAP released a survey Friday and claimed it would bag between 45 and 50 seats in the polls. The BJP projection said it would capture 39 seats and form the government.

Lovely said Congress need not worry about these surveys as the party maintained contact with people during its tenure.

Lovely was accompanied by his cabinet colleagues Haroon Yusuf and Raj Kumar Chauhan who gloated over the BJP's internal wrangling for the berth of chief ministership.

"If they are so sure of winning elections, why there is fighting for the post of chief minister? People can imagine they just want to come to power and are not concerned about problems and development of Delhi," said Lovely.

"May God give them (BJP) some good sense," he said.

Rumours are doing the rounds senior leader Harshvardhan might be the new face of the BJP, but the party scotched such speculations fearing rebellion from state unit chief Vijay Goel's camp.

Goel has told media he is ahead of others in the chief ministerial candidate's race.
