BJP president Nitin Gadkari presided over the meeting.

The leaders discussed the economic situation and the remedial measures taken by the state governments to deal with it.

Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha had earlier said in a statement: "The Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to hold a meeting of its Chief Ministers on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Convention Centre, NDMC Parliament street, New Delhi."
