Chief Ministers belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other party leaders met at the national capital on Saturday to discuss the economic situation of India.
BJP president Nitin Gadkari presided over the meeting.
The leaders discussed the economic situation and the remedial measures taken by the state governments to deal with it.
Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha had earlier said in a statement: "The Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to hold a meeting of its Chief Ministers on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Convention Centre, NDMC Parliament street, New Delhi."
Speaking on the objective of the meeting, he said: "The objective of the Chief Ministers meeting is to assess the impact of the economic slow down in their respective states, to discuss the steps taken by them to meet the challenge on the fiscal, developmental, price rise and unemployment fronts and find ways and means of taking the country out of the economic mess."
