New Delhi, Feb 8 (IBNS) Union Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal on Wednesday mocked at the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after their ministers in Karnataka were caught watching porn saying "the party is having all the entertainment".
"Some of these BJP people have all kind of entertainment- sometimes it is political, sometimes of another sort," he told reporters drawing laughter.
Sibal went on to add that the BJP "waxes eloquence on issues of morality but they should look at their own assembly members [in Karnataka] to have the answers."
Earlier Wednesday, three ministers in the BJP ruled Karnataka government, two of whom were caught on TV watching pornography inside the Assembly on Tuesday, resigned.
The ministers are Karnataka Co-operation Minister Laxman Savadi, Women and Child Welfare Minister CC Patil and Minister for Ports and Science and Technology Krishna Palemar, the last one reportedly being the one who had passed on the video to the other ministers who were watching it.
The disgraced ministers said they were resigning for the sake of the party´s image, but Krishna Palemar claimed they would come out clean upon any inquiry.
Patil among them is a minister who earlier said he is opposed to women wearing provocative dresses.
Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj has accepted the tainted trio´s resignations.
Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has also reportedly accepted their resignation even as Congress demanded that they should be arrested for the shameless act since it is a violation of law.
"It is shameful to political class. BJP has no political accountability. Resignation is not enough. They should be arrested for violating the cyber law," said Congress leader and Union Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily.
BJP central leadership also reacted.
"They ministers have come under cloud and they have now resigned. They will be investigated by the competent authority. If it has happened it is very worrying," said Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP spokesperson.
She, however, reminded that no one should resort to moral policing and Congress itself was also caught in such incidents, including one inside the Raj Bhavan (Andhra Pradesh).
The ministers were reportedly caught on camera watching the sleazy content on their mobile phones inside the Assembly.
They were caught on camera by a local news channel that was covering the Assembly proceedings.
The ministers defended themselves saying they were watching a video of a rave party where women were raped since the house was discussing a similar issue.
