The Congress party on Sunday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was stuck with its internal disputes rather than focussing on its constitutional responsibilities.
Interacting with mediapersons here, party spokesperson Rashid Alvi termed the BJP infighting as "unfortunate", and said the opposition needed to "self evaluate."
"It is indeed unfortunate that the national opposition party is suffering from internal disputes rather than concentrating on its role as the opposition. We have even suggested to the BJP that right now they need time to self-evaluate," Alvi said.
Commenting on the candidature for the President, Alvi said that Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had been bestowed with the responsibility to choose the final candidate, and she will soon announce a name.
"We have repeatedly said that the Congress Working Committee (CWC) has authorised Sonia Gandhi to take the final call. She will make the decision, and that's all we want to say on this issue," Alvi added. (ANI)
