Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari has said that the objective of the party is not just to attain political power but to provide nation a better future, if it comes to power in Uttar Pradesh.
Releasing a vision document here on Monday, which detailed the BJP mission to make Uttar Pradesh a front-ranking state by following the path of good governance, development and social justice, Gadkari also promised one crore jobs if BJP is voted to power.
"I don''t think that in politics many people clearly know about Vision Document. First of all I want to tell you that BJP didn''t take birth to win political power. We don''t only want to win the political power; we want to change the future and fate of our country and this is the only mission of BJP. If we have to change the future of the country then we have to see our plus, minus, weaknesses and strengths and also we have to make our strength strong," said Gadkari.
He also said that if his party comes to power then it would follow whatever it has mentioned in the Vision Document.
"I just want to appeal to the people of the Uttar Pradesh that to forget the politics of caste. You have seen the rule of hooligans and you have seen corruption; now I want to see the rule of God. BJP to change the future of India by following the path of God. I just want that you give your blessings to BJP and definitely we will obey what we have mentioned in this Vision Document and soon the future of Uttar Pradesh will change," added Gadkari.
He also appealed to the people of Uttar Pradesh to cast votes in their favour and not on the lines of caste or creed.
Polls in Uttar Pradesh are to be conducted in seven phases between February 8 and March 3. The counting of votes would take place on March 6.
Uttar Pradesh will elect a new 403-member state assembly in March, and the poll results are expected to broadly indicate trends for 2014 general elections.
