Both Houses of Parl adjourned for day

Both Houses of the Indian Parliament were adjourned for the day on Thursday.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members disrupted the proceedings of the Upper House while demanding Prime Minister Manmohan Singh´s resignation over the 2G spectrum allocation scam and the coal scam.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned as a mark of respect for sitting Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Ambica Banerjee who died in Kolkata on Thursday.

The Lower House of the Parliament mourned the death of former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP S. Kuppuswamy.



Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar made an obituary reference on the death of Banerjee after the House met on Thursday.

The members observed silence as a mark of respect to the leaders and then the House was adjourned for the day.

In the Rajya Sabha, BJP members created ruckus as they demanded Manmohan Singh´s resignation.

Samajwadi Party (SP) members moved to the Well of the House and protested against the issue of Chinese intrusion in Ladakh.

The House was adjourned till 12 noon, and then till 2 pm before it was adjourned for the day.
