London, Dec 4 (IANS) A man in Britain has been issued anti-social behaviour order (Asbo) at a ripe age of 85 along with his life partner, aged 71, after finding that the couple have turned neighbours' life a living hell.

Joseph Gallagher and his partner Dorothy Womersley were hit with anti-social behaviour orders after they abused the family next door in Grimsby, a seaport in Lincolnshire, and damaged their property, The Sun reported.

The Asbo orders restrict behaviour in some ways, by prohibiting a return to a certain area or shop.

Officials said their behaviour was "abusive and intimidating" and that all efforts to get them to stop had failed.

A district judge also told the couple that they would go to prison if they breached the five-year Asbos - despite their age.

Britain's previous oldest Asbo holder was Fred-erick Amery, 75, of Devon, who was jailed for 70 days in 2010 after breaching his order.
