The BSE Sensex fell 0.07 percent on Monday, ending flat as caution prevailed over key economic data due this week.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 14.41 points lower at 19,409.69 with 16 of its components closing in the red.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.03 percent or 1.50 points higher at 5,908.90 on Monday.
Investors awaited cues on new reforms from the Parliament even as banking stocks rallied on hopes of new favourable legislation.
Meanwhile in the New Delhi bullion market, gold climbed by Rs 85 to Rs 31,660 per 10 grams while silver spurted by Rs 550 to Rs 62,350 per kg.
