The BSE Sensex fell 2.15 percent on Monday, as investors booked profits after a six-session rally on resurfacing concerns of a slowdown in Asia's third largest economy.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 370.68 points lower at 16,863.30 -- its sharpest fall in about six weeks -- with 25 of its components closing in the red.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 2.26 percent or 117.40 points lower at 5,087.30 points on Monday.
Energy major Reliance Industries, private lender ICICI Bank and engineering conglomerate Larsen & Toubro led the losses as traders said that a number of concerns that were overlooked by the markets during the rally resurfacing.
