The BSE Sensex on Thursday climbed to its highest close in six months as it rose by 1.17 percent to stand at 16,643.74.
This is the highest close of the BSE index since December 7.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index moved up by nearly 1.26 percent to stand at 5,018.40.
Earlier on Wednesday, the BSE Sensex had dropped by 0.09 percent or 14.5 points to stand at 16,451.47.
