The BSE Sensex fell 0.14 percent on Monday as financial stocks declined following a comment from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The 30-share benchmark index ended 26.95 points lower at 19,457.82 with 17 of its components closing in the red.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.10 percent or 5.65 points lower at 5,897.85 on Monday.

Meanwhile in the New Delhi bullion market, gold declined by Rs 50 to Rs 31,000 per 10 grams while silver rose by Rs 215 to Rs 58,865 per kg.
