Mumbai, June 21 (IBNS) At least two people were killed and over 12 injured after a three-storey building collapsed in Maharashtra's Thane district early Friday.
The Shakuntala building in Mumbra suburb of Thane collapsed around 2:30 am, said police.
Eight fire engines were rushed to the spot for rescue operations.
"We have recovered two bodies so far, but the death toll may rise. Rescue operations are underway. We fear about 10 more people are trapped under the debris," said a fire official.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officials have also reached the site.
Earlier on June 10, a five-storey residential building in the Mahim area of Mumbai collapsed following heavy rains. Seven people were killed in the accident.
