New Delhi, Aug 9 (IBNS) The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on Tuesday tabled a report on Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society scam in Parliament.

The report accuses top defence officials including former Army chiefs General Deepak Kapoor and General NC Vij of showing 'clear conflict of interest' in allotment of flats.

The CAG report said local military authorities and defence estate organisation officials 'misappropriated' the government land for a few people's benefit.

It indicted former Maharashtra MLC and Adarsh promoter Kanhaiyalala Gidwani, suspended Maharashtra information commissioner Ramanand Tiwari, former Collector Mumbai City IA Kundan and many bureaucrats in the Urban Development Department in the scam.

The report said the land meant for Indian Army was not transferred in the name of the Ministry of Defence and that led to the exploitation of the property.

The 30-storey apartment, housing many top level defence officials, was built on a disputed army land at Colaba and it is alleged that the flats meant for the families of the Kargil martyrs were allotted to top defence officials and kins of politicians.
