
New Delhi: Delhi will play host to a unique conference focusing on reading as a therapeutic process, with experts from 15 countries expected to discuss the subject.
Organised by Association of Writers and Illustrators for Children (AWIC), the three-day conference, starting on February 9, is a pioneering effort to present a significant dimension to reading.
The role of books in reading to recovery, creating and using books to heal, art for healing and the role of facilitators in reaching out are some of the discussions expected to take place during the conference.
Several eminent national and international speakers from 15 countries will share their experiences on bringing children and books together to facilitate emotional growth and healing, the organisers said in a statement.
Besides panel discussions, children's activities, cultural programmes, a book exhibition and a screening of CDs prepared by different museums, will also be organised.
The conference will be inaugurated by Karan Singh, Member Rajya Sabha and President of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
