Rae Bareli: As the Congress came under a
renewed attack on the Bofors issue, Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday rejected the BJP's charge that the UPA government was misusing
CBI and had pressurised it to give a clean chit to accused
Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi in the case.
Quattrocchi off CBI's wanted list
"Absolutely not," the Congress star campaigner told reporters when asked about BJP's charge that the Congress had pressurised CBI to ask Interpol to remove Quattrocchi for its list of wanted persons.
"How it is related to elections?", she retorted to repeated queries on the Quattrocchi issue.
On the Supreme Court order for a probe into the alleged role of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in post-Godhra riots, Priyanka said, "Whenever such a thing happens, it should be investigated."
Priyanka, who has had a verbal duel with Modi during
the campaign, slammed him for "raising of isssues not
concerned to peopole".
"In these election days, you see lot of irrelevant talk by the leaders but none of them speak about development. A leader is saying 'gudia' while some other is saying 'budia'. All these are useless talks.
"Only Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh talk about development. Rest are engaged in irrelevant speaks," Priyanka said at an election meeting in support of her mother Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
