The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to start the board examinations for class 10 and 12 students from March 5, 2018. Lakhs of candidates shall sit for the examinations at centres across various part of the country.
A total of 11.86 lakh students will write the class 12 exams - an increase of 7.95 per cent from last year. The exams will end on April 13.
Similarly, over 16.38 lakh students are to appear for the class 10 board exams this year, that will end from on April 4.
From the current year, the CBSE has made board exams compulsory for class 10 students giving a one-time relaxation in pass marks for students in current batch.
According to the special relaxation, the class 10 students in current year, need not secure 33 per cent separately in board exams and internal assessments. Instead they have decided to implement an overall 33 per cent pass mark criteria in the subjects which has both the internal and written exams.

This year, there are 4453 exam centres and 17,574 schools and for class 12, there are 4138 centres and 11,518 schools this year.
