Kolkata, May 20 (IBNS) East Bengal are looking for second silverware in this current football season, will face underdogs Prayag United at the penultimate match of the Calcutta Football League (CFL) at Kalyani Municipality Stadium on Tuesday.
Their arch rivals Mohun Bagan, however, threw a fresh challenge to them after registering 3-0 victory over Prayag United in a replay match on Sunday.
The win put Mohun Bagan on top of the table, displacing the arch rivals by a point.
Odafa Okolie´s hat-trick at Kalyani Stadium steered Mohun Bagan on top of the table with 19 points, a point ahead East Bengal, who need at least four points in next two games to retain the CFL crown for third time in a row.
East Bengal after playing against Prayag United on Tuesday, will face their traditional rivals Mohun Bagan on May 23 at Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
East Bengal won the season opening championship Federation Cup in September, 2012, and since then they played three more tournaments.
But the second trophy is remaining illusive.
After losing the IFA Shield final to Prayag United, East Bengal came third to I-League after Churchill Brothers won it and Pune FC emerged runners up.
Coach Trevor James Morgan´s boys, however, have been doing extremely good in the continental´s top flight football AFC Cup and moved into the quarter finals in nine years.
