Child abuse: Bangalore teacher held

Bangalore, Jan 22 (IBNS) The headmaster of a premier school in the IT city has been arrested on the charges of child abuse, police said on Sunday.

Dr Paul Meekin, the head master of the Trio International School, was arrested following a complaint lodged by one of parents of the students on Jan 20.

According to the complaints the headmaster was allegedly having inappropriate chatting session with the pupils.

´´Police complaints have been received against the Principal. He was arrested and sent to police custody,´´ Joint Commissioner, Bangalore East, B Dayananda told CNN IBN.


Dr Meekin, currently out on bail, has been booked under Juvenile Justice Act.

Appalled by the incident, the school management said in a written statement that they were not going to tolerate such issues.


´´The Management will not tolerate any such issues even if it is a mere allegation,´´ the statement read.



´´We would not spare any effort to get to the bottom of the truth and ensure to uphold the high standards maintain by the institution,´´ it added.

The school has supsended the the headmaster from his current responsibilities forthwith pending ivestigation.


The Trio World School is the premier British international school in Bangalore for boys and girls aged two and a half to 18.

Meekin, who is from England, joined Trio as headmaster in 2010.

Before graduating in teaching from Cambridge University, he trained and practised as a lawyer and then changed his career to education.
