Dissident Chinese writer Yu Jie, who is now in self-imposed exile in the US with his family has recounted "inhumane treatment" meted out to him, which he says, eventually forced him to leave the country.

Jie said that the Chinese police arrested him on 9 December 2010, and subsequently took him to an undisclosed location, where he was stripped naked, beaten for hours and warned that his naked photographs would be posted online.

He also claimed that he suffered cigarette burns, and was treated in a hospital. They verbally abused me non-stop with vulgar language, calling me a traitor to the state and to the Chinese people, and trash," The BBC quoted his statement on Human Rights in China's website, as saying.

He said he was frequently placed under house arrest and his movements were curtailed.

"After over a year of inhumane treatment and painful struggle, I had no choice but to leave China," he added.

His revelations came in the wake of another activist Li Tei being sentenced to 10 years in prison, making him the third dissident to be jailed in less than a month.

Jie had earlier written a controversial book titled "China's Best Actor: Wen Jiabao, which was banned in mainland China.

He now plans to publish a biography of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo and a new book on Chinese President Hu Jintao. (ANI)
