Chinese netizen to meet world leaders at Davos

Geneva, Switzerland, Sept 1 (IBNS) Chinese video blogger Ming Gao from Beijing has won the Summer Davos Debates video competition and will guest report at the upcoming Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian on 14-16 September.

Gao was chosen from more than 70 submissions in the Summer Davos Debates competition which was run in partnership with Youku, one of China's largest video hosting sites.

Youku users were invited to upload a short video sharing their ideas and insights on innovation and innovative projects and people to develop the theme of this year's meeting Mastering Quality Growth. Entries received more than five million views worldwide.

With an audience of more than 28 million, Gao is a popular and respected Paike, the Chinese name for a video blogger. He posts daily videos covering breaking news, world affairs and event reporting, including taking his camera to the streets for snapshots of the public.

Gao, who is 45, said he was privileged to represent the community in Dalian and interact with more than 1,700 participants.



"It will be a great honour to have the chance of communicating with so many elites and gaining valuable knowledge which I will share with my family and friends," Gao said.

This is the fourth consecutive year the World Economic Forum has opened its meetings to video submissions from the public. The Summer Davos Debates are designed to foster direct dialogue between the public and participants.
