The documents were used as evidence in a $20 million lawsuit against the Scouts by a Portland, Ore., man who alleged he was abused by his assistant scoutmaster. The files became public after news organizations including The Oregonian, The New York Times, Oregon Public Broadcasting and The Associated Press won a court case against the Scouts to have the files released.
