New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday handed over a cheque of Rs 11 lakh as compensation to family members of inspector Mohan Chand Sharma who died in an encounter with suspected terrorists in South Delhi recently.

The Chief Minister, who had personally visited the residence of the late officer, offered the post of a teacher in a government school to his widow Maya Sharma, according to a release from the Chief Minister’s office.
"The Chief Minister expressed her deepest condolence and sympathies to family members of the officer and described his sacrifice as substantial contribution in overcoming those terrorists who were out to create chaos," the release said.
Dikshit also assured to provide all possible help to the bereaved family.
Soon after the death of Sharma on September 19, the state cabinet announced to grant an amount of Rs 11 lakh to his family.
