The district collector of Maharashtra's Amravati has reportedly issued a notice to Congress MLA and President Pratibha Patil's son Raosaheb Shekhawat in connection to the seizure of Rs 1 crore from Amravati last week.
According to reports, the Election Commission had asked the municipal commissioner and district collector to file a report on the issue.
Earlier on Saturday, state police had seized Rs. 1 crore seized as unaccounted cash from Maharashtra´s Amravati district.
The cash was hidden in a car bonnet.
The police had also detained two people in connection to the case.
Shekhawat had said that the money meant for distribution among economically weak candidates for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation polls in Maharashtra.
He said that he had sought money from the state Congress Committee to distribute it among 87 candidates who were mostly ´women and poor´.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had attacked the Congress over the issue and said that the party was trying to use the cash to influence the voters before the election.
