Committee to Protect Journalists says situation for scribes 'alarming' in Pakistan

A New York-based watchdog body- Committee to Protect Journalists - while condemning the murder of senior journalist Mehmood Jan Afridi in Kalat, has described the situation for journalists in Pakistan as "alarming".

Bob Dietz, CPJ Asia programme coordinator, said in a statement that the level of violence against journalists in Pakistan remains alarming, and that authorities must work to reverse this trend, reports The Nation.

He said that Pakistani authorities should investigate Afridi's murder, determine the motive, and apprehend the perpetrators immediately. (ANI)
