Both ruling Congress and main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday welcomed social activist Arvind Kejriwal as he launched his political party here.
Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Rajeev Shukla said everybody has the right to ´oppose´ in a democracy and ´whoever enters politics, it is a good thing´.
However, he said public support plays a crucial role in case a person enters politics.
BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said everyone has the right to form a political party.
"The Indian Constitution has given us the right to form a political party and contest elections. So, it is a good thing," Hussain told reporters.
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, however, criticized Kejriwal and said anyone could form a political party in a minute.
"Let them form the party...anyone can form political party in a minute. The main thing is how many supporters you get," Ramdev said.
"It is important to win more than three hundred seats," he said.
Kejriwal added a new dimension to his movement against corruption on Tuesday as he formally launched his political party and said it belonged to the people of the nation.
Kejriwal, who was seen in a new version of ´Anna topi´, launched a vision document for his political party titled ´Quest for Swaraj' and said the official name of the party will be announced on Nov 26.
"It is not my party but it is for the people of this country. I will fight elections and the common man of this country will be a part of the electoral politics now," Kejriwal said.
"We will not rest till corruption is eradicated," he said.
He said the aim of the party will be to change the ´corrupt´ system.
Kejriwal said: "We are not joining politics to fix people. We want to fix the system."
