Mumbai: The Congress-NCP alliance in which Maharashtra would be able to attain simple working majority in the October 13 Vidhan Sabha elections and would not face problems in the formation of the next government, according to intelligence assessments received from various regions.
According to data received from different regions – Konkan, Western Maharashtra, North Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha – and analysed here in detail, it was found that the Democratic Front was ahead of Shiv Sena-BJP saffron alliance.

In the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, a party or a coalition requires to achieve the magic figure of 145 to form the next government.
The sources in the intelligence point out that the Congress-NCP would be able to achieve the target of 145 and help of Independents would not be required. The tally of the Congress-NCP – if compared to that of 2004, would go up, the sources said.
