Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers clashed at a polling booth during the assembly polls in the state here today.
The clash took place after allegations ran from both the sides that illegal repolling had been going on at the polling booth.
The police arrived on the scene just in time to avoid the situation from getting out of hand.
Meanwhile, in Jallandhar, cricketer Harbhajan Singh came to cast his vote.
While talking to mediapersons after casting his ballot, Singh stressed that it is important for everyone to exercise their right of vote.
"I am a citizen of this country and it becomes my responsibility to choose a right leader. For that I would like to appeal to all the citizens of the country as everybody has the right to vote which they should come out and exercise. They should use this right and choose a correct leader," he said.
According to media reports, 17,683,559 voters will decide the fate of candidates for 117 seats of state legislature.
In Punjab, the main battle is between the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)- Bharatiya Janata Party alliance and Congress Party. (ANI)
