Unai, Gujarat, Sept 14 (IBNS): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a month-long state-wide rath yatra (chariot tour), has slammed the Congress on the coal scam.

He called the All India Congress Committee (AICC) as ´All India Coal Congress´.

"You all have heard about heft of diamonds, gold and silver. But have you ever heard that somebody took away coal?" Modi said on Thursday.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said the Congress people have ´stolen coal´.

"Congress people have stolen coal worth Rs 2 lakh crore," the senior BJP leader said.

India´s main opposition the BJP has continuously slammed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) on the coal scam since it came to light.

The coal report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has pointed finger at the loss-making coal block allocations when the portfolio was held by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The report by the CAG said 25 private companies received benefits of around Rs 1.86 lakh crore through of coalblock allocations in various states.

Modi on Tuesday started a month-long state-wide rath yatra (chariot tour) from Becharaji town in Mehsana district.

Considered to be the beginning of Modi´s electoral campaign for the upcoming Gujarat assembly polls, the chariot tour will cover 182 constituencies across the state, reports said.
