Panaji, Apr 9 (IBNS) The Congress party has begun a full length probe into its humiliating assembly poll debacle in Goa on March 3.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Francisco Sardinha today informed reporters that a three-member committee headed by Union Defense Minister A K Anthony is studying party's poor performance in Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

Goa's Digambar Kamat-led party was defeated by a large margin - 9 seats against the BJP which became the single largest party with 21 seats.

Sardinha said their defeat was mainly because the party committed numerous mistakes.

"People did not vote Congress back to power for many reasons. We are still in shock over our defeat," he confessed.

Congress earlier had admitted that issues like family raj, illegal mining, medium of instruction, drug nexus and corruption in various departments were responsible for their defeat.

The BJP along with the support of regional MGP and an independent is in the ruling with 11 ministers already inducted in the cabinet.
