Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Saturday alleged that the Congress Party is suspicious about its leadership and vision.

Jaitley said the Congress Party is at the present in huge dilemma about leadership and their line of campaign amid the Gujarat elections.

"They (Congress) are suspicious about their leadership and vision. And therefore, we believe that the BJP will not only be able to form the government (in Gujarat), but also it will improve its performance," said Jaitley.

"They have no issue except claiming that how much money the Centre has granted to Gujarat, but they forget that the Central Government is functioning on the people's taxes paid by developing states like Gujarat. So, they must not think that they are doing charity for Gujarat," he added.

When asked to comment on Ratan Tata's criticism for the UPA Government and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh over lack of support to attract investors, Jaitley said: "It is a well-known fact that in the last few years, the ability of the Central Government to push for investments to clear projects has acted as the serious deterrent against investment."

Congress President Sonia Gandhi had earlier on Friday accused Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP-led government of failing to meet the aspirations of the people of the state.

Sonia said that Congress stood with the people of Gujarat at the time of drought, earthquake and cyclones. She alleged that the hardships of the common man in the state have increased because of the policies of BJP Government.

Gujarat will go to the polls in two phases on December 13 and 17. The counting of votes will take place on December 20. (ANI)
