Patna: The Congress will fight the 2010 Bihar assembly elections on its own and not align with any one, state party in-charge Jagdish Tytler said here on Monday.

Tytler also said that party president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Rahul Gandhi will tour the state in the coming months to 'expose' the Nitish Kumar government's claims to good governance.

'Congress workers and leaders have full confidence that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi's tour of Bihar will give advantage to the party in the next assembly polls,' he said.

'Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and 22 central ministers of the party will tour Bihar to expose Nitish Kumar's claims of good governance.'

'The Congress will contest the next Bihar assembly polls on its own and not join hands with any one,' he told newspersons at a party function.

He ruled out any possibility of aligning with United Progressive Alliance allies including the Rashtriya Janata Dal of Lalu Prasad and Lok Janshakti Party of Ram Vilas Paswan.

He claimed that the Congress party's popularity and its vote percentage had increased though it could win only two seats in last month's by-elections to 18 assembly seats, which was the basis of the party's decision.
