In a major move, political parties reached a consensus over the Land Acquisition Bill on Thursday which will be be tabled in the Parliament on the second half of the Budget Session.
The decision was taken during an all-party meeting over the bill on Thursday. The second half of the Budget Session will start from Monday.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said: "We have reached a broad consensus on the Land Acquisition Bill."
India´s main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will also support the bill.
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj told media: "The BJP will support the bill."
On Apr 9, an all-party meeting convened on reaching a consensus on the Land Acquisition Bill had ended inconclusively here on Tuesday.
The bill seeks to address problems of the industry in connection with acquisition of land for setting up projects.
