Dhaka, Apr 19 (IBNS) : The Bangladesh High Court on Thursday ordered the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to postpone the national team's upcoming tour of Pakistan by at least four weeks due to security fears.
Bangladesh were scheduled to play a 50-over game and a Twenty20 international on April 29 and 30 in Lahore. They will be the first team to tour Pakistan since the attack on Sri Lankan team by unknown gunmen in Lahore in 2009.
Additional Attorney General M.K. Rahman said that the high court in Dhaka has asked BCB to explain why the tour has been planned despite concerns over the team´s safety.
The high court gave the order following a petition by a lawyer and a university teacher.
Pakistan became a no go zone for international teams after 2009 attacks and they played their home series on neutral venues, mostly in the United Arab Emirates.
