The Rajasthan High Court on Friday ordered the removal of five top police officials, including Commissioner B L Soni, until an inquiry into the clash between policemen and lawyers on Thursday.
A group of lawyers, who are demanding better pay and cheaper homes, clashed with the police for the second consecutive day in Rajasthan capital Jaipur on Thursday.
The police allegedly lobbed teargas shells and charged batons to disperse the agitating lawyers who reportedly pelted stones on them.
On Wednesday, the lawyers clashed with the police outside the Rajasthan Assembly.
The police allegedly fired teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse the agitating lawyers. 30 lawyers were injured in the clash.
The lawyers are on an indefinite strike from Thursday to protest against police action.
The division bench hearing the plea on the clashes has ordered an a judicial enquiry and the submission of a report within 15 days.
The court ordered the removal of Commissioner Soni, additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Raghuveer Saini, Deputy Inspector General Giriraj Meena , DCP Yogesh Yadav, and DCP Yogesh Goyal till then.
