CSJC, Tara News emerge champions

CSJC and Tara Newz emerged champions in the Print media and Electronic media category respectively of the Prayag CSJC five-a-side media football tournament that ended at the Calcutta Referees' Association ground on Thursday.

CSJC defeated Ekdin 1-0 via tiebreaker after regulation time failed to break the deadlock. Raju Ganguly scored in the penalty shootout to help CSJC clinch the trophy after a gap of seven years. CSJC goalkeeper Somnath Bose was declared Man-of-the-Match for his spectacular show in the match and during the penalty shootout.

In the Electronic media category, defending champions Kolkata TV bowed out to former champions Tara Newz by a solitary goal scored by Man-of-the-Match Sambhu Nath Saha. This was Tara Newz's second title in three years and like the last time they won the trophy two years back, Saha was the best player of the final.

Mohun Bagan technical director Subroto Bhattacharya and India player Syed Rahim Nabi were the guests of honour and gave away the prizes.
