New Delhi, Jan 31 (IBNS) A letter written by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year was an angry outpouring against the Shunglu Committee report on the Commonwealth Games scam where she said her image was harmed.

The letter written in March last year was accessed by NDTV and it was a defence of the chief minister who also had drawn flak for the Commonwealth Games preparation delays.

The letter indirectly put some blame on the finance ministry (P Chidambaram was the finance minister) for delays in allocation of funds.

"Committee report has caused damage to the government and my image," Dikshit´s letter said, adding that "this is not acceptable".

She said the "Committee failed to appreciate the need for consultations."

She said the direct insinuations were deliberate, mischievous and defamatory, NDTV quoted from the letter.

In what is seen as shifting some blame to then finance minister P Chidambaram, the CM said: "Project implementing ministries complained of delays in getting financial clearances."

A Delhi court has asked police to file FIR against the chief minister based on a petition by RTI activist Vivek Garg who produced the letters of Sheila Dikshit before the court to prove the incompetence of the Delhi government and cost escalations in CWG preparations.

India faced humiliation before the entire world in the run up to the Games owing to shabby preparations. The Games which, however, concluded without any major hitch and Indian athletes brought several accolades to the nation.

CWG Organising Committee was headed by Suresh Kalmadi and he was sent to jail for nearly nine months for the many irregularities till he got bail recently.
