Hyderabad, Nov 23 (IBNS) At least seven people were killed till Saturday morning as Cyclone Helen made landfall on Friday in Andhra Pradesh, said reports.
The National Disaster Response Force teams have started rescue operations.
Though the state is still experiencing heavy rainfall, Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Centre said the cyclone has started to weaken.
"The Cyclonic Storm ´HELEN´ over Coastal Andhrapradesh moved West-Southwest wards and weakened into a Deep Depression and lay centred at 22/1200 UTC over Coastal Andhrapradesh neat lat 15.9 deg N and long 80.7 deg E about 60km Southwest of Machilipatnam," the Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Centre said in a statement.
"It would move West-Southwest wards and weaken into a Depression during next 6hrs," said the statement.
The Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Centre said the sea will remain rough to very rough and the state might experience widespread rain or thundershowers.
