Darjeeling police bust ISI network

Siliguri, May 19 (IBNS) Darjeeling police in West Bengal Sunday busted an ISI network in this sensitive eastern Himalayan region by arresting four suspects, who have link with an arrested army staff in Rajasthan for passing classified information to Pakistan.

North Bengal´s Inspector General of Police Anuj Sharma said they have arrested Magan Bahardur Singh, an ex-army man, Gopal Biswakarma, Dhan Kumar Pradhan and Mizo Suraiya from Ghari Dhura under Kurseong sub-division early Sunday.

Their arrest is a follow up with an input from Bidyut Kumar Sinha, who was arrested by Jaipur police on May for allegedly passing on classified information to ISI ( Inter-Services Intelligence) in Pakistan.

Bidyut Kumar Sinha, (43), a resident of Assam´s Karimgunge district, is an upper division clerk who was posted in Jaipur. Before joining his new posting Sinha had worked in the eastern Himalayan region as clerk with the Army.

Sinha was working with the Army Supply Corp and was posted in the South Western Command in Jaipur. Sinha was working closely with a Nepal-based ISI agent, police said. He joined the Army Supply Corp in Jaipur in 1995 and was posted in Siliguri from 2000 to 2011 after which he was promoted and he joined in Jaipur.

Sharma said some incriminating documents, including defense installations, have been seized from them.

He said intelligence inputs says that those ISI suspects for some weeks have been gathering information on defense installations, including the 33 Core area in Sukna.

Sharma said all the suspects are residents in and around Darjeeling areas. They would be produced before a court on Monday.
