Fashion designer Debasree Das Monday introduced Utsav, a men's wear collection of Dhoti and Kurta to mark the arrival of Bengali New Year.
Das also unveiled her lastest range of sarees that has pastel to deep evening in gheecha, cotton, supernet and khadi.
"In summer, we need to wear something which is very comfortable, friendly and easy to wear. So keeping these factors in mind I have tried to design these cotton textile in such a way so that one can wear it in humid condition as well as one can make herself look pretty. That is why the name has been kept as Utsav," she asserted.
Das added, "Dhoti for both men and women is stitched and made in such a way that you can go for a marathon race. The colours ranges are Green, Red, Off White and peacock blue. Also cotton printed, parsee, bold and dhakai textiles are there. For women Dhoti with short kameez adds pretty and sobre looks."
The price range for the women attire starts from Rs.1800 onwards to Rs. 15000 and that of the men starts from Rs. 2500 to Rs 15000.
Das has 32 weaver units and over a 100 weaver working under her from all parts of India.
She noted that the Utsav collection is the best example of unity in diversity, where the weaving is done in Kanchi, prints done in Mumbai and designed in Kolkata.
The latest Utsav collection is 100 percent cotton with vegetable prints, washable at home, low maintenance and breathable material.
Tollywood divas like Rituparna Sengupta, Dolon Roy and Saheb Chatterjee were present at the launch to showcase the garments.
Saheb wore a Parsee worked dhoti and Kameez made out of handloom cotton with jute finish. Dolon in a dazzling dhoti and short kameez sparkled the launch.
Rituparna was looking stunning in traditional white and red with a tinge of green made of cotton and jute based fabric.
