Colombo, Aug 21 (IANS) About 100 representatives from 16 countries are expected in Sri Lanka next week to make preparations for the Commonwealth summit later this year, an official said Wednesday.
The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) is the highest decision making body of the 53-member Commonwealth.
The delegations will tour the venue of the opening ceremony and other places connected with the summit, Xinhua quoted official Sajin Vaas Gunewardane as saying.
Related events of CHOGM will take place Nov 10-17 while the main executive sessions will take place Nov 15-17.
This is the highest ranked summit taking place in the island since the end of a brutal three-decade civil war in 2009.
